Corporate Communications Consultant – Purolator Courier


The Communications Consultant will have a dedicated client group and will develop and implement communications initiatives to support the achievement of each client’s respective business plans. The Consultant will also support the communications requirements for corporate programs and initiatives.
Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring communication activities are aligned with Purolator’s long-term vision and strategic direction and the annual business plans of the various functional areas
  • Ensuring communications material is consistent with the organization’s purpose, values and brand
  • Providing advice and counsel to clients regarding communication programs and activities
  • Developing communication plans and tactics for projects as required
  • Ensuring communications projects are implemented on time and within the established budget
  • Ensuring communication material is thorough, accurate, complete and error-free
  • Managing third-party vendor relations including translators, design firms and production companies
  • Measuring and evaluate communication activities
  • Providing support to crisis communications activities
  • Supporting the planning and co-ordination of corporate events
  • Supporting the production of corporate publications
  • Key contributor to corporate Intranet
  • Proactive and reactive media relations

Language requirements:

  • Fluently bilingual in English and French (reading, writing and speaking)

Education:

  • Post-secondary education (ideally in business, public relations, journalism or corporate communications)

Experience:

  • 3-5 years experience working in corporate communications

Experience in:

  • Crisis communications
  • Event planning and co-ordination
  • Media relations (proactive and reactive)
  • Social media
  • Developing and executing communication plans
  • Project management
  • Managing clients
  • Producing corporate publications
  • Experience working with senior management team members

Skills, knowledge and abilities:

  • Exemplary communication skills in English and French – both written and verbal
  • Strong writing and editing skills for print and online communication
  • Strong interpersonal and consulting skills
  • Strong background in evaluating and measuring the effectiveness of communication programs and activities
  • Detail-oriented
  • Familiar with Canadian Press style
  • Customer focus orientation
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Able to work on multiple tasks in a high energy, high demand, team-oriented environment
