Job Description:
As a key member of the Executive team, the Director of Communications is responsible for the strategic direction, development, planning and execution of internal and external communications for TELETOON’s two English and two French networks.
Key Responsibilities:
Research, develop and implement the best communications practices to facilitate internal and external communications while supporting the priorities identified in the Strategic plan and maintain consistency in key messaging
Provide leadership to, and ensure the effective execution of all aspects of TELETOON’s strategic communications including Press (Consumer and Trade), Audience Relations, Internal Communications, Business Information and Outreach programs
Ensure the monitoring of internal and external trends informing key staff and responding to emerging opportunities
Consult with Senior Management team to ensure communications strategies and tactics are on-brand and integrated
Guide effective, innovative communications strategies to help employee engagement and organizational success
Work collaboratively with the various departments at TELETOON to maximize communications initiatives
Direct and manage staff and activities within TELETOON’s communications department, guiding all actions and ensuring that the service delivers initiatives and solutions promoting the network’s Vision, Promises and Values
Evaluate and make a recommendations on TELETOON’s philanthropic initiatives
Requirements:
Superior written and verbal communication skills in both French and English
University/College degree in Communications/Public relations or related field
8+ years experience in Communications with at least 5 years in a Management capacity
Strong Strategic Planning skills with a clear understanding of the role of Communications in achieving the overall business goals
Experience within the Broadcast/Production community a definite asset
Established relationships with journalists including key national French-language journalists
Knowledge of Quebec entertainment industry and key talent
Ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
Pop culture savvy
Business experience in kids market an asset
Strong organizational and project management skills
Ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines
A sense of humour and an ability to embrace the Unreal world of cartoons
