Director of Marketing – Vancouver

PNI Digital Media Inc., as the market leader in online photo solutions and transaction applications for retailers, requires a Director of Marketing to lead its next generation services for retailers. This position will be required to create, modify and execute marketing strategies on behalf of PNI’s retail partners, while working closely with PNI product management, development, sales, and customer service. PNI’s customers include Walmart, Costco, Tesco, CVS Pharmacy and many other world class retailers.

The position will report to PNI’s Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop a comprehensive marketing communication plan, by retail partner, incorporating the core goals of each retailer while respecting their unique brands, customer set and strategy.
Develop, evolve, and enforce the identity and image projected by each of the PNI’s major retail customer’s brands both online and in-store.
Develop and implement email marketing campaigns.
Oversee the development of the strategic and tactical marketing collateral needed to support each retail partners’ needs, including seasonal site graphic refreshes, email marketing campaigns, print ads, direct mail, product information guides, banner ads and promotional items.
Managing the entire product line life cycle for the retail partners’ core products (photobooks, greeting cards etc) from strategic planning to tactical activities.
Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going travel to customers and industry events.
Driving a solution set across development teams (primarily
Development/Engineering, and Marketing Communications) through market requirements, product contract, and positioning.
Developing and implementing a company-wide go-to-market plan for new initiatives, working with all departments to execute.
Manage the content on all of the company’s retail partner websites including landing pages and product promotion pages.
Work with internal resources and external agencies to ensure the timely, cost effective delivery of high quality material that conforms to PNI customers’ style guide and brand image.
Brainstorm creative and innovative ways to drive sales for PNI’s retail partners.
Test and evaluate alternative channel, product, and creative strategies to ensure the most productive and efficient approach.
Generate reports and presentations for senior management, detailing customer metrics, campaign performance, and creative strategies.
Coordinate with Account Managers and provide guidance to major retail partners on how to effectively message and promote their services.
Research, analyze, and respond to market trends through the use of focus groups and surveys.
Travel to retail partner head office locations will be required.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree (marketing, business, finance or related field);
Minimum of 7+ years of technology marketing experience, with 3 years in a management role.
Experience in retail marketing.
Experience with online marketing tools including paid search, banner advertising and SEO.
Understanding of practical implementation of technology and how to convey the usage of this technology to consumers.
Exceptional communication skills, including executive level oral presentations and written proposals.
Ability to work proactively, multi-task, and work well in a deadline-driven environment.
Experience with managing the logistics of marketing communications; including multi channel advertising, email campaigns, collaterals and online content, public relations and third party communication.
Experience leveraging tools for thought leadership to generate sales leads and market awareness; including white papers, industry analysts, editors, seminars, and other relevant medium.
Strong ability to analyze data and use this data to provide customer insight into trends, create tactical strategies to leverage these trends and present trends in a manner eliciting action
Strong competency in Microsoft Office tools for presentation and collateral development, spreadsheet analysis, online content, and word processing.
