Events and Marketing Internship – The Walrus Foundation
The Walrus Foundation Events and Marketing Internship is designed for those interested in event planning and marketing at The Walrus. Interning for the charitable, non-profit Walrus Foundation, the Events and Marketing Intern will work closely with the co-Publisher and Executive Director, Director of Marketing and Circulation, volunteers and staff of The Walrus Foundation.
Major components of this position include: assisting with event coordination and production, developing and implementing promotional pieces, assisting with print and online marketing campaigns, and managing partnerships. The Events Coordinator/Marketing Intern will also execute media outreach, manage The Walrus magazine’s press archives, and be given the opportunity to assist with the overall circulation and marketing strategy.
The ideal candidate will hold a university degree or equivalent, be highly organized, efficient and detail/deadline oriented. Other qualifications include excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, familiarity with Microsoft applications—especially Excel—and, of course, an interest in event planning and marketing in the non-profit sector.
The Events and Marketing Internship operates on a six-month, unpaid term. Each session has the interns working thirty hours per week, with some flexibility in scheduling in order to allow for part-time work.
The six-month term will commence July 28th 2010, and conclude February 1, 2011.
