Multimedia Specialist – Toronto


The Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) is a non-profit organization with over 19,000 members in chapters across the province. HRPA connects HR professionals to an unmatched range of HR information resources, events, professional development and networking opportunities. As the voice of the HR profession in Ontario, the association administers the Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) designation.

As a member of the communications staff team, the Multimedia Specialist needs to be a well-organized, creative thinker with strong concept, design and production skills in providing professional creative development and production for print and digital media, for marketing, communications, public relations, and program delivery.

Our ideal candidate is both a great designer and a person with a lot of technical skills, with a minimum 5 years’ experience in design for digital media and 2 years’ print design, have solid knowledge of design principles, have an strong understanding of art direction and layout for a variety of communications materials, have an strong understanding of Flash including action scripting, experience in creating user experiences, solid knowledge of web production, and the ability to think conceptually. The Multimedia Specialist helps provides guidance on the usage of corporate identity in online environment and oversees digital production processes, including subcontractors who may be used from time to time for specific projects or for overflow during extremely busy periods.

Job Description:

  • Collaborates with project teams to plan, analyze, organize and execute assigned projects.
  • Work with client and team members and under general direction, designs, develops, and produces a variety of print, Web and/or multimedia graphics, animation, audio and video production, to support program needs and any related duties as required.
  • Responsibilities include creative consulting, concept development, customer interaction management, technology assessment and application, graphic design and illustration, web and multimedia design and development, and direction of final vendor production.
  • Produce engaging and original videos, animations and rich media content.
  • Performs technical duties in the production of video and audio projects, video streaming, and studio video and audio productions; performs video and audio editing including edit special effects, composition, and design of video productions;
  • Take photos for Web, video, print publications, and media use; edits and manipulates photos; maintains and organizes digital video and photograph archives.
  • To provide deliverables within timelines and deadlines.
  • Ensure consistency and integrity of association brand.
  • Contributes to social media marketing strategies and tactics.

Experience/Skills:

  • Strong conceptual and design skills with solid knowledge of layout and design principles; ability to create and manage designs from concept through production and delivery.
  • Advanced knowledge of digital production techniques and terminology.
  • Thorough understanding of prepress requirements along with digital file preparation, strong knowledge and understanding of production issues, processes, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment; work independently with initiative and to complete assigned work within tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in both print and electronic media.
  • Advance working knowledge of both Mac & PC platforms; expert knowledge in Microsoft Office applications a serious plus.
  • Ability to liaise with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong communications and presentations skills with strong ability to articulate creative ideas.
  • Experience integrating audio, video, still images, text and data for the delivery of interactive content.
  • Strong knowledge of social media network and applications.
  • Knowledge of functionality across various OS and browser platforms a plus.
  • Experience with E-Learning design and development a plus.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or higher in Graphic Design or related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Proficient in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Flash, Adobe Premier Pro, Flash action scripting and XML.
  • Strong HTML/DHTML skills (ie. hand-code HTML code from scratch and excellent knowledge of syntax, including a thorough understanding of CSS).
  • Well-versed in Web design software. (i.e. Fireworks, ImageReady, Dreamweaver, Flash) and Web graphic optimization and experience developing animated images.
  • Solid understanding of the Web, and consumer Web behaviour.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint MOSS a definite plus.
  • JavaScript experience and Macromedia Flash action scripting.

Work environment

  • Must be willing and able to work on-site at HRPA, Monday through Friday during normal business hours
