SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Plans, develops and delivers field unit public relations and communications activities and services to engage the public, partners and stakeholders in the understanding, appreciation and support of the natural and cultural heritage places managed by Parks Canada.

SALARY: $59,727 to $64,539
OPEN TO: Persons employed with Parks Canada, and persons residing in Canada and abroad who are eligible to work in Canada.

SCREENING CRITERIA:
Applicants will be screened against the following criteria and must clearly indicate they meet those established criteria.
EDUCATION: Graduation with a degree from a recognized college or university with specialization in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism or other discipline relevant to the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
LANGUAGE: Bilingual Imperative (BBB/BBB)
**Arrangements will be made for the administration of the Public Service ComissionSecond Language Evaluation (SLE) to test candidate’s bilingualism in their second language (French or English).**
EXPERIENCE IN:
- Providing strategic and operational communications and media relations advice to management;
- Researching, analyzing, developing and delivering strategies and plans related to communication and media relations;
- Dealing with the media;
- Planning and organizing special events such as news conferences and media briefings;
- Writing and editing communications products such as news releases, media lines and analytical background material;
- Supervising staff.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance;
- Maintenance of a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence;
- Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform;
- Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorialholidays.
